Somatic Therapy is a "bottom-up" (using the body to change the mind) approach to change while talk therapy works "top-down" (using thoughts to change feelings). It is the process of using physical sensations and the nervous system to change your emotional state and thought patterns. Instead of trying to "think" your way out of a feeling, you work directly with the body's survival instincts to signal to the brain that you are safe. We focus on your body’s internal signals to help you process and release "stuck" survival energy—like the fight, flight, or freeze response.
